DRAFT ORDER IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the Colonial Naval Defence (hereinafter referred to as "the (est")

Act, 1931,/it is enacted that the legislature of any colony may, with the approval of His Majesty in Council, make provision, either in conjunction with

and using

any other colony or net, for maintaining/vessels of war; and that where the legislature of any colony

has made provision for raising a force for the naval

defence of the colony within its territorial waters,

that legislature may, with the approval of His

Majesty in Council, further make such provision regarding the discipline and service of officersand

men of that force as is set out in the said Act;

AND WHEREAS by the said Act it is further

provided that His Majesty in Council may, on such

conditions as he thinks fit, authorise the Admiralty to accept any offer made by the Government of a colony to place at His Majesty's disposal for general service

in the Royal Navy, vessels of war maintained, or

officers or men of such force as aforesaid raised by

the colony;

AND WHEREAS by the Naval Volunteer Ordinance,

1933, of the Legislature of the Colony of Hong Kong (hereinafter referred to as "the Legislature")

provision has been made for raising and maintaining

a force for the Naval Defence of Hong Kong called the Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force (hereinafter

NOW THEREFORE, His Majesty, in exercise of

the powers se vested in Him by the above recited

provisions,
